Ceylon Black Tea and Green tea

Sri Lanka, a tear-drop-shaped tropical island in the Indian ocean, was known as Ceylon during colonial times, and Ceylon tea had gone from mountain top to top of the world in a short period of 170 years, competing against tea giants for 5000 years. Geographically located in the tropics, with rich fertile soil with a central mountain range, the island has interesting terroir and perfect conditions for tea growing throughout the year. The island's topography and seasonal monsoon rains give rise to microclimates with varying temperatures, rainfall, and wind patterns, creating seven agro-climatic tea-growing districts in high, mid, and low elevations. Tea grown in each area produces a liqueur with a signature aroma, taste, and colour. The exquisite bouquet of fragrance and the exotic taste of Sri Lankan tea is unmatched in the world. It was Ceylon tea, made famous by Victorian merchant Thomas Lipton, enticed North Americans to drink tea. It was the most popular drink before the American revolution.
Latest tea research and development has produced new cultivars to meet future demands and the diverse needs of consumers globally. Sri Lanka is now a leader in sustainable, eco-friendly and organic tea growing. Empowering small farmers and encouraging boutique tea gardens, Sri Lanka is a trendsetter in the Fairtrade industry. Diversifying from black tea production, Sri Lanka now produces green teas and is entering the specialty oolong tea market.
Ceylon Select tea brings you some exquisite tea from small tea gardens in high mountains. Our limited-edition, specialty Savi black tea and green tea come from an area known as the 'Worlds End,' famous for the vertical 4000 feet drop in the elevation on one side of the mountain. This tea estate supports a church that cares for rape victims in that area. So every cup of tea you drink helps make someone's day a little better.
