White Tea Brew Guide

How to make a perfect cup of white tea?

  • Use spring water or filtered water
  • Boil water freshly and cool down to 80-85°C (175-185°F).
  • Use 1 heaped tea spoon of tea leaves (200g) per one cup
  • Steep for 2-3 minutes
  • Brew 2 - 3 if desired

White teas could be re-steeped multiple times, with each infusion giving different notes.  The aroma and taste will fade after the second infusion, allowing loose-leaf white tea to reveal its delicate character over time.

Frequently asked questions

Why are Silver Tips and Golden Tips considered white teas?
They are made exclusively from unopened tea buds and undergo only gentle withering and quick drying. They are not rolled or intentionally oxidized.
Why aren’t white teas hand-rolled?
White teas are not hand-rolled because rolling would damage the delicate tea buds and alter their naturally light, refined flavour. White tea is defined by minimal processing, allowing the buds to retain their subtle character and natural shape, making it a ‘white needle’
What is the difference between Silver Tips and Golden Tips?
Silver Tips are lighter and delicate, with soft floral notes, while Golden Tips are slightly fuller with gentle fruit tones and a rounder mouthfeel.
How is handcrafted tea different from machine-processed tea?
Handcrafted teas are handled gently in small batches, preserving leaf integrity and complexity, while machine processing prioritizes speed, volume and uniformity.
Can these teas be steeped multiple times?
Yes. Handcrafted white teas and crafted black tea can be infused multiple times, revealing subtle changes in flavour and aroma each time.
Who selected the teas in this collection?
Each tea is personally selected by the founder of Ceylon Select, who is a certified tea sommelier.
Who are handcrafted teas suited for?
Handcrafted teas are ideal for discerning tea drinkers who appreciate quality, subtlety and complexity in flavour. They also suit anyone looking to elevate their tea drinking experience with thoughtfully selected, carefully made, rewarding teas.
How should white tea be stored?
Store black tea in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and strong odours at 19-25°C to preserve freshness and aroma.
